Evil Twin - Rirrom - P. A. Nolte

1/ A man in a tuxedo is strapped to a metal table in the center of a less-than-sterile operating theater.  In silhouette above him is a menacing figure.

(Figure): You expect me to monologue.  To reveal my plan.

2/ A hand at a console, fingers wrapped around a solid lever just waiting to be pulled.

(Figure): I'd say I'm sorry to disappoint, but I'm not.

3/ Above the captured man on the table, surely a spy of some kind, an elaborate device that couldn't possibly be anything but a sophisticated laser begins to heat up.

(Tuxedo): If you're going to try and kill me, get on with it.  But first...

4/ There is fear in the captured man's eyes now.  Eyes that usually betray nothing.

(Tuxedo): Your name.  I'd like to visit your widow after I escape.

5/ A corner of the figure's lip ticks upwards.

6/ He steps into the light.  The spitting image of the man on the table.

(Figure): Rend.  Jackson Rend.

Evil Twin: Election Day--David Press

PAGE ONE.

1.1: Open on a wide panel showing a YOUNG FAMILY walking down a hill towards the reader. There’s the HUSBAND, and MOTHER with a BABY in a carrier. Let’s call them the McGinnises
NO DIALOGUE.

1.2: INT-TOWN HALL. A line stretches down a narrow hallway. At the end of the line is a table and an OLD MAN with big glasses and a pin that displays: POLLSTER.
NO DIALOGUE.

1.3: Our family stands in front of the table, backs to us, giving their names. The Pollster is leaning in at the wife with the baby in the carrier.
HUSBAND:                           McGinnis, Henry.
WIFE:                                     McGinnis, Flori.
POLLSTER:                           Oh, isn’t he a cutie? How old?
WIFE                                      She’s 10 weeks old.

1.4: In the VOTING booth, Flori McGinnis highlights a vote for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine on her ballot. The baby is cooing softly as she marks her ballot. Maybe take a bird’s eye view for this shot.
NO DIALOGUE.

1.5: Same as 1.1 but this time the McGinnises are walking back up the hill.
NO DIALOGUE.

1.6: Back in their home, Flori McGinnis is sitting in a chair facing the reader, she’s nursing the baby, and Henry is in front of the television—they’re looking at each other. Worried looks on their faces. Flori looks like she might cry. They’re listening to the election results.
ANCHOR [Unattached]:        And that’s Pennsylvania for Donald Trump giving him 250 electoral votes.
FLORI:                                   What do we do if he wins?

HENRY:                                 We do not give into fear.

Evil Twin – Invader-er miZ – MK Stangeland Jr.

(6 Panels)

Panel 1: DIB is in a techy science lab of SCIENCE(!) belonging to PROFESSOR MEMBRANE; it’s clearly a place he’s definitely not supposed to be. The main scienc-y thing that he stands next to is a large techy pod.

DIB (1): If the calculations I borrowed from dad are correct…

DIB (2): …Zim being his own worst enemy combined with whatever it is from my brain that drives me to save humanity in spite of itself…

DIB (3): …should give me a Zim clone that will defeat him for good.

Panel 2: DIB pulls a lever.

SFX: CRANK

Panel 3: A lot of steam and light pours from the techy pod.

SFX: BbzzUUU!

Panel 4: The pod opens up and a cloud of dramatic smoke covers the floor. Inside the pod is a copy of ZIM, but with your traditional goatee and mustache. He also has a large smile on his face.

DIB: (Minimized) Good Zim?

Panel 5: MIZ is outside the pod and looking toward DIB. His smile has turned sinister.

DIB (1): You don’t look very good.

MIZ (1): That’s because I’m not.

DIB (2): I’ve created an evil twin? But Zim’s already evil!

MIZ (2): Exactly.

Panel 6: Close-up on MIZ.

MIZ: I’m his evil-er twin.

Evil Twin - A Simple Plan - Grant McLaughlin

1 - On a bathroom sink faucet as water spills out of it.

RICK (tailless): I'll be honest...

2 - On a bottle of shaving cream that Rick is holding as it sprays some cream onto his open hand.

NO COPY

3 - On a shaving brush sitting on the sink countertop as Rick reaches for it.

NO COPY

4 - Back on the bathroom sink faucet.  The water continues to spill out of it, but now a layer of steam rises from the basin to indicate it's piping hot.  Rick holds a razor under the water to heat it up.

NO COPY

5 - Pull back to reveal Rick looking into the mirror.  Our focus is on Rick's reflection, which has shaving cream lathered all about his goatee.  Rick has started to shave it off, but most of it remains on his face.  Within the mirror's reflection, we can also see that Good Rick is bound to a chair and gagged (possibly sitting in the doorway of the adjoining room), unable to do anything while his doppelganger takes on this fiendish disguise.

RICK: I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner.

Evil Twin - The Brown Recluse - Perry Kent

Panel 1
Exterior, night. Spiderman lands on the perch of a building.

1. SPIDERMAN: What's this ruckus? Wait. Do people still say ruckus?

2. SPIDERMAN: What's the hap? Much cooler.

Panel 2
Spiderman is shocked to see another person fighting the bad guy.

3. SPIDERMAN: What the hap! That's me!

Panel 3
Reveal: Other Spiderman, with a slightly different suit (maybe brown highlights?) than the Original, swings around the bad guy on a length of web. The bad guy pumps a giant flame out of his fist like it was a flamethrower, trying to hit the Other Spiderman. Around the outside of the activity is a ring of cop cars, lights flashing blue-red.

4. SPIDERMAN (OP): Or someone who looks a lot like me. And can sling web. And has impeccable style choices.

Panel 4
The Other Spiderman snaps the bad guy's neck. The flame sputters out.

Panel 5
Spiderman, back on the perch, jerks away from the scene in horror and disgust.

5. SPIDERMAN: What the hell?!?!

- END -

Why Evil Twin?

Why should we write an Evil Twin story?

The concept is timeworn and reoccurring. The evil other-half has been present in literature since at least Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Sometimes it’s purely metaphorical, the concept of a reflection of ourselves that is nefarious in nature. Sometimes it is a little more literal, such as the evil crewmembers from the Star Trek episode Mirror, Mirror. Even The Simpsons has done it. And the concept of an evil twin is not at all foreign to comics, what with Bizarro, the existence of Earth-3, and other more obscure occurrences. If you write in serial, you'll likely encounter the evil twin.

So this week, don your goatee, practice your maniacal laugh, and think to yourself "What would an evil twin do?".
